Full-day technical tour on 10 July to Capua (about one hour from the conference venue) to visit CIRA’s facilities.

CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Centre) is internationally recognized for its world-class testing facilities, unique in size and operational envelope. These include the Icing Wind Tunnel (IWT), used to reproduce natural icing conditions for the design and certification of aircraft and rotorcraft subsystems, and the Plasma Wind Tunnel (PWT), dedicated to simulating the extreme thermal and pressure conditions experienced by space vehicles during atmospheric re-entry.

The tour will also feature selected laboratories and experimental facilities for full-scale crash testing, transonic aerodynamics, adaptive structures, advanced materials, acoustic and vibroacoustic characterization and space qualification.

CIRA’s research activities span aeronautics and space systems, with a strong focus on flight safety, Earth Observation, environmental sustainability and future space transportation technologies.
