The Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics (A.I.D.A.A.) is a renowned non-profit scientific organization that brings together individuals and institutions with a shared passion for the advancement of aeronautics and space exploration. With a particular focus on fostering young talent, A.I.D.A.A. includes a dedicated section for students enrolled in secondary and university courses, offering them valuable opportunities to engage with the aerospace field.
Founded over a century ago, A.I.D.A.A. holds the distinction of being the second oldest scientific aerospace society in the world. Its contributions to the sector are wide ranging, from organizing high-profile conferences, workshops, and roundtables, to hosting competitions that reward excellence in aerospace research and studies. Since 1920, the association has also published Aerotecnica Missili e Spazio Journal of Aerospace Science, Technologies, and Systems, an internationally respected journal that showcases cutting-edge developments in aerospace science.
A.I.D.A.A. maintains strong collaborations with cultural and scientific bodies both in Italy and abroad. It is an active member of key international organizations such as the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences, the International Astronautical Federation, and the Council of European Aerospace Societies. Every two years, A.I.D.A.A. organizes international congresses across its regional sections, providing a platform for the dissemination of the latest research and innovations in aeronautics and space.
In 2024, Italy hosted some of the most significant aerospace events worldwide. For the first time, the leading aviation conference, ICAS, and the premier space event, IAC, were held in the same country just weeks apart. Additionally, Italy hosted the key scientific event in the field of Aeroacoustics, organized by AIAA and CEAS. This unique combination of events provided an exceptional platform to showcase Italy’s aerospace sector on a global scale, with record numbers of participants.
